Croatia beaten by Spain in Euro Handball 2020 Championships Final

Spain are the new European Handball Champions after defeating Croatia in a dramatic final match in Stockholm, Sweden. Spain retained the title after winning a close game 22-20.

Spain led for most of the game but Croatia fought back and brought the game level at 20-20. It was bound to be a tight game as when the two national teams met in the earlier rounds the game finished with a draw.

Croatia settled for the silver medal after a superb championships, and in the final 10,000 Croatian supporters filled the stadium hoping that Croatia would win their first ever European Championship.

After the match the Croatian captain was named Player of the Tournament.

Spain took a lead into the halftime break, 12-11, and started well in the second half going into a 16-12 lead. From then on Croatia were always playing catch-up and although they came close couldn’t find the winning solution.

The fans go behind the players at the end of the match showing their support for a proud end to a European Handball Championship 2020.
