"For me as a coach, this is a great sign of recognition," commented Goran Ivanisevic after becoming the coach of world number one Novak Djokovic.
The Croatian tennis legend and winner of Wimbledon in 2001 is believed to be taking on the role for the duration of the Wimbledon Championships which start today, although if the pair hit it off then the co-operation could well last longer.
Speaking to the media Ivanisevic said “An unexpected call arrived several days ago. I was a bit surprised, I was travelling to Sweden. But, when Novak Djokovic calls you, many things are put aside,” said the veteran tennis star.
In his career as a coach so far Ivanisevic has coached Marin Cilic, Milos Raonic and Tomas Berdych.
