The Croatian Tourist Board is nominated for the best national tourism organization in the world as part of the "2019 Virtuoso Award" in the "Tourism Board of the Year" category, by Virtuoso, the leading association of travel organizers in the segment of luxury tourism, Along with the Croatian Tourist Board, the national tourist organizations of Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and Slovenia are also nominated, and the winner will be announced on August 12th within the Virtuoso Travel Week, the most significant tourist event on the American continent.

This nomination further confirms the excellent position of Croatia on the big US market, from which our country is visited by more and more tourists each year, and we ex-pect even better trends with the recent establishment of a direct flight between Philadelphia-Dubrovnik - said Croatian Tourist Board director Kristjan Stanicic, adding that Croatia's tourist offer in the US market will be even more visible because a new office in Los Angeles starts working soon, alongside with an existing office in New York.
It’s good to know that Croatia is among the top five growing destinations on the US market, which is confirmed by the strong growth of tourist traffic over the last few years. Last year, approximately 585 thousand arrivals and 1.6 million overnight stays came from the US mar-ket in Croatia, which represents a growth of 22 percent in arrivals and 18 percent in over-night stays compared to 2017. Positive trends have been retained in the previous part of this year, during which more than 190 thousand arrivals and 500 thousand overnight stays of US tourists have been realized, up 14 percent compared to the the same period last year. These results position the United States as the most significant far-reaching market for Croatia.
