FC Barcelona is swapping the traditional blaugrana stripes for a checkerboard print for the first time in Club’s history. As it's explained on their official website, the new design takes its inspiration from the city of Barcelona by incorporating the characteristic blocks of its Eixample district, home to some of the most emblematic buildings designed by the great architect Antoni Gaudí.
However, we surely know who is famous for their checkerboard jersey – Croatian national football team! Many noticed the similarity, but the funniest was the reaction of the Croatian Football Federation.
- Nice try FC Barcelona, but you can't beat red-and-white checkers – Croatian Football Federation tweeted, with the photo of Croatian national team shirt next to the newest Barcelona shirt.

One more tweet arrived soon, with one more funny comment: -Well, we are convinced that Ivan Rakitic will surely enjoy the new FC Barcelona kit!
