The Croatian National Tourist Board is presenting the Croatian tourist offer at the Vakantiebeurs fair, which takes place in the Utrecht, Netherlands from January 9th to 13th. The fair is made for business and wide audience. Already on the first day of the fair a great interest of the Dutch for Croatian destinations was shown, especially for the Croatian camping segment.
-The presentation at the Utrecht fair is the start of the season of presenting the Croatian tourist offer at the most important fairs from the key emission markets. In 2019, the Croatian National Tourist Board will organize the presentation of the Croatian tourist offer on a total of 22 fairs, out of which there are 17 general and five specialized fairs, including three nautical and two camping fairs – Kristjan Stanicic, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board said. In 2018, almost 500,000 arrivals and about 3.2 million overnight stays came from the Dutch market, representing a growth of 9 percent in arrivals and 5 percent in overnight stays compared to 2017.
The Utrecht Fair also hosts numerous meetings with representatives of tour operators, travel agents and airline companies such as TUI, Thomas Cook, Transavia, D-Reizen, Rotterdam-Den Haag Airport, Travel Counselors Association and others, who are discussing activities and co-operation in the upcoming period. The first signs of a Dutch tour operator's bookings for Croatia are at the level of last year's, but the real period of intensive booking is just ahead.
-We are extremely pleased with the increasing interest of air carriers in Croatia, which is clear from the announcement of three new air lines from the Netherlands for Croatia, more precisely towards Zadar in 2019. Transavia will connect Zadar and Rotterdam, Rynair Zadar and Eindhoven and Easyjet Zadar and Amsterdam - said Ivan Novak, Director of Croatian Tourist Board Representative Office for the Benelux Countries.
Vakantiebeurs fair has more than 1000 exhibitors, and it attracts approximately 110,000 visitors on average. About 60 percent of the visitors as the main reason for the visit mention the fact that they have not yet booked their vacation, and 50 percent of them visit the fair to get inspiration.
