Split travel agency deletes Mosques from Mostar in Photoshop scandal

By  Dec 24, 2018

How to upset your neighbours with Photoshop. A travel agency from Split which organises excursions to Mostar and Medjugorje published a photo on their website which had been clearly altered in Photoshop.

The new, adjusted photo of Mostar had two new Catholic churches and spires in place of the original Muslim mosques. It appeared that the two elaborate minarets from the mosques had been replaced by a tower of a Franciscan Church on one side and a Catholic Cathedral on the other side of the river.

Needless to say the rather insensitive photo was heavily criticised in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina and after a few hours the controversial photo was taken down. In addition to the two Catholic symbols another huge cross was added to the top of the mountain overlooking the city.

Adriatic Travel from Split, the travel agency who published the photo with the title “Snowy Mostar,” have clearly forgotten the Christmas spirit and how to be good neighbours.
