For the second year running, EUFCN, the Association of European Film Commissions, is launching the EUFCN Location Award, the award for the best European location in the film and TV industries.
Last year Dubrovnik was nominated and this year the honor goes to the island of Vis where Mamma Mia: Here we go again! was filmed last year.
- Vis is one of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic Sea, and it is the furthest from the coast and the most enigmatic of all the inhabited Croatian islands. It spent much of its recent history serving as a Yugoslav military base, cut off from foreign visitors from the 1950s right up until 1989. This isolation preserved the island and its authenticity. Vis plays the key part in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again film, where It stars as fictional island Kalokairi, and is represented as a paradise island – EUFCN writes.
Now the audience has the chance to vote for the best location from among the 12 in the shortlist, by simply filling in the online form. You can do so until 30 November.
And that’s not all: from among all the voters, EUFCN and Cineuropa will pick a winner who will have the chance to visit the winning location! The winner will benefit from two nights of accommodation for two people, which will be offered and used in agreement with the film commission of that area.
What are you waiting for? Vote for Vis here.
