Famous English writer David Mitchell who has gained fame with his novel Cloud Atlas will visit Croatia for the first time from 21st to 23rd of September. The movie adaptation of the book was made by Matrix filmmakers in collaboration with Tom Tykwer, with Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in the main roles.
Mitchell arrives on the invitation by the Zagreb Book Club Booksa, where this praised writer will talk with Turkish journalist and writer Ece Temelkuran on Saturday at 8 pm about literature and politics and politics of literature.
Day before, on Friday, September 21st in the Gorgona Museum of Contemporary Art at 6 pm Mitchell will read his new stories and answer questions of the audience, after which the movie Cloud Atlas will be shown. Zagreb readers will be able to meet the author and sign books at the bookstore Vuković & Runjić on Saturday, 22nd September from 1 to 2 pm.
Mitchell will also visit Dubrovnik on Sunday, where he will talk to Miljenka Buljevic in Lazareti at 8 pm about literature and travel.
For those who don't know him, David Mitchell is the award-winning and bestselling author of The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, Black Swan Green, Cloud Atlas, Number9Dream, Ghostwritten and The Bone Clocks. Twice shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Mitchell was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine in 2007. With KA Yoshida, Mitchell co-translated from the Japanese the international bestselling memoir, The Reason I Jump. He lives in Ireland with his wife and two children.
