The popular Flos Olei guide has declared the Croatian region of Istria the best extra virgin olive region on the planet for the third year in a row.

The Italian-English world guide for extra virgin olive oils ''Flos Olei 2018'' offers insight into the results of a thorough tasting of large numbers of specimens, presenting olive growing from 51 countries on five continents. This popular "Bible" of extra virgin olive oils included 77 oils from Croatia out of which 75 are from Istria and 2 from Dalmatia.

Therefore, products of Istrian olive growers and olive oil makers have found their place among the 500 best olive oils in the world accounting for 15 percent in the global community of the highest quality extra virgin olive oils.

''For the third year in a row Istria was declared the best olive region in the world taking into account the largest number of included olive growers. We are exceptionally proud of the success of our olive growers who have only confirmed that Istrian olive oils are well known and appreciated at the global level'', commented the Istria County Prefect Valter Flego.
