UK lifts working restrictions on Croatians from the 1st of July

Written by  Mar 19, 2018

An announcement of the abolition of restrictions on the employment of Croatian citizens in the United Kingdom was sent British Prime Minister, Theresa May, to Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković today. Plenkovic welcomed this decision from Downing Street, and Croatia will respond reciprocally to British citizens, and they will also be able to work freely in Croatia from the 1st of July.

"This Decision means that Croatian citizens will be equalized in the United Kingdom's right of access to the labour market with all other EU citizens on the 1st of July 2018. It is the result many negotiations between the two prime ministers and the wider political and diplomatic activities Croatia has undertaken in the past period and will further stimulate the development of partnerships and bilateral relations after the United Kingdom's exit from the EU, “commented the Croatian government.

The abolition of restrictions on the employment of Croatian citizens has recently been announced by Malta, the former British colony, and today the smallest member of the EU. This means that further restrictions on the employment of Croatian citizens within the EU remain only in the Netherlands, Austria and Slovenia. Other EU members have already abolished the restrictions on the employment of Croatian citizens.
