In the first seven months of this year nine Croatian airports recorded 5,2 million passengers or 17,7 percent more compared to the same period from last year.
According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), this year's July was the best month in terms of passenger traffic with 1,7 million passengers or 18,3 percent more than the last July.
The increase in the number of passengers in all airports is also associated with an increase in the number of aircraft operations that totalled almost 65,000 or 8, 2 percent more than last year. Only in July, there were 18,300 operations or 8,1 percent more than the same month last year.
On the other hand, freight transport in Croatian airports in the first seven months of this year fell by 3 percent to around 4,600 tonnes, even though July recorded an increase by 22,45 percent.
Out of the total 1,75 million passengers in all nine Croatian airports in July this year, Split Airport was the busiest airport with almost 654,000 passengers with an increase of 20,9 percent in comparison to July 2016.
Dubrovnik Airport is right behind Split with 440,000 passengers or 15,6 percent more over the same month last year. Next is Zagreb Airport Franjo Tudjman with 350,000 passengers and 14,3 percent growth, followed by Pula Airport with 151,000 passengers or 32 percent more than last July.
