Last week the world popular actor Armand Assante visited Croatia to play in the latest Croatian film ''General''.

Antun Vrdoljak's film ''General'' starring Croatian Hollywood actor Goran Visnjic as the hero of the Croatian War of Independence Ante Gotovina, has being filmed on many locations throughout Croatia since February 2017.

The film is currently being filmed in the city of Split, which also hosted the famous American actor Armand Assante and a young German actress Jasmin Lord.

Lord played the role of Ximena, the first wife of the general Ante Gotovina, whilst Assante played the role of her grandfather Andreas.

The famous actors filmed the scenes that took place during 1991 when Ante Gotovina announced to his wife his intention to go back to Croatia to participate in the defence of his homeland.

The filming of ''General'' is to be finished by the mid-July, whilst broadcast on Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) is scheduled for 2018.
