On the occasion of the presentation of his latest novel ''The Lady from Zagreb'' in Spain, the British writer Philip Kerr described Croatia as ''a small and irrelevant country that nobody is interested in''.

''Croatia is a good example of what can happen if you are a small country that is totally irrelevant. All of those who seek independence in Scotland should visit Croatia or Bosnia and Herzegovina. Maybe they would like to spend some time there, but shops there are empty'', commented Kerr in his latest interview for the Spanish newspaper El Pais.

While he was in Zagreb, Kerr collected the data for his latest novel where he spent ''horrible days'', quoted El Pais.

Philip Kerr gave the interview in the coastal Spanish city of Valencia during the Crime literature festival ''VCL Negra''. His latest novel ''The Lady from Zagreb'' is the tenth book of a series of novels about the detective Bernie Gunther who lives and works in Germany during The Second World War. Kerr has also presented his novel in the US this month.
