Old phones from Novi Vinodolski to be turned into Olympic medals

By  Mar 20, 2017

The city of New Vinodolski has responded to the appeal from Japan, who invited the world to donate old cell phones to help them make medals for the Olympic Games 2020.

When Japan collects two tons of old mobile phones and small appliances, five thousand gold, silver and bronze medals will be made for the Olympic and Paralympic Games by recycling.

Novi Vinodolski plans to set containers for old cell phones in the lobby of the City Administration office.

Nine types of digital devices are accepted, such as smart phones, cameras and portable music devices. All aimed to collect eight tons of high-quality metal which will produce five thousand medals.

The Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games in Tokyo announced that it will take millions of devices, calling on citizens to donate outdated and useless devices.
