According to a statement from the Croatian Tourist Board, the low-cost airlines Volotea and Transavia from France as well as an online French travel agency Karavel are planning to expand their business to the Croatian market in 2017.

During his working visit to France, the Croatian Minister of Tourism, Gari Cappelli, met with executives of the three companies as well as with representatives of the French Tour Operators' Association (SETO), the tour operators Pierre & Vacances and Voyageurs du Monde who announced their plans of expanding services to Croatia.

The French airline Volotea expressed its interest in operating flights to Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula and Zadar in order to bring 220,000 French tourists to Croatia by 2020. Last year the airline operated flights to Split and Dubrovnik which achieved great results, thus it has announced additional routes to the two Croatian cities from Strasbourg and Marseille, increasing the number of seats by 52 percent.

Transavia as a member of the Air France-KLM Group has announced an increase of the number of seats to Dubrovnik and an introduction of new flights to Zagreb and Pula next year.

On the other hand, the leading French online travel agency Karavel reported an increase of 7 percent in bookings for Croatia in comparison to the same period last year and plans to expand its services to Croatia, which is perceived as a very safe tourist destination.
