Ryanair to Launch Zagreb-Palermo Flights, Expanding Italian Connections from Croatian Capital

Written by  Oct 29, 2024

Ryanair has filed a preliminary schedule to launch flights between Zagreb and Palermo for next summer, potentially marking the first scheduled service between the two cities. If plans proceed, the route would begin on March 30, operating three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) with a 180-seat Lauda Europe Airbus A320. Tickets, however, are not yet on sale, and the route is still subject to final confirmation, reports EX-YU Aviation

Ryanair has seen strong demand for its Italian routes from Zagreb, already serving Rome Fiumicino, Bergamo, Naples (summer only), and Pisa, which launched this year. Bergamo has been one of the busiest routes, with close to 70,000 passengers last year.

Next summer, Ryanair will enter the fourth year of Zagreb Airport’s Growth Incentive Model, which requires adding 75,000 departing passengers annually to maintain incentives, with further discounts for surpassing 150,000. This program has encouraged Ryanair to grow its operations in Zagreb, with Italy set to be the airline’s top market, followed by Spain, the UK, Germany, Belgium, France, and Malta.
