Written by  Oct 11, 2024

Along with the initial one million euros, the Croatian state has secured an additional 800,000 euros this year for special needs and projects of interest for Croats abroad.

The Central State Office for Croats Outside Croatia has invited non-profit organizations of Croats abroad and in Croatia, individuals, and socially disadvantaged Croats abroad to submit their special needs and projects for a public call worth 800,000 euros.

This is the second public call of this kind this year. The first, worth one million euros, was issued at the beginning of the year, and 216 projects received support, while approximately 70 impoverished Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo received one-time financial assistance totaling 906,000 euros.

On the new call, open until November 7, associations, foundations, institutions, religious communities, or other legal entities of Croats abroad and in Croatia, individuals, and socially disadvantaged Croats abroad and returnees/immigrants from the diaspora can apply.

The minimum amount that can be contracted for an individual project is 700 euros, and the maximum is 20,000 euros. Socially disadvantaged individuals can receive at least 300 euros, and up to 3,500 euros.

One applicant can submit a maximum of two applications for the public call.

The program, aimed at strengthening cooperation with Croats abroad, preserving and enhancing national identity, protecting the rights and interests of Croatian communities, and preserving the Croatian language, culture, and heritage, was launched ten years ago. With each new call, Croatia allocates more funds for projects and needs of Croats abroad, this year through two calls totaling 1.8 million euros.

Applications for the public call are submitted to the Central State Office for Croats Outside Croatia, and the list of conditions and documentation that must be fulfilled and attached is listed on the Office's website.
