Croatian Car Sales Up 12.1% in 2024, Škoda Leads Market

In the first nine months of this year, 51,782 new passenger vehicles were sold in Croatia, marking a 12.1% increase compared to the same period last year. In September alone, 4,123 vehicles were sold, reflecting an 11.9% rise, according to registration data from Promocija Plus.

Škoda led the market, selling 6,970 vehicles, representing 13.4% of all new cars sold in Croatia. Volkswagen followed with 6,012 units (11.6% share), while Renault secured third place with 3,880 vehicles (7.4% share). Toyota and Opel rounded out the top five, selling 3,389 and 3,328 vehicles respectively.

The Škoda Octavia was the best-selling model in September with 226 units sold, followed by the Renault Clio (133), and VW Tiguan (131). A notable newcomer, the MG ZS, secured fourth place with 125 units sold, while MG sold 167 cars in total during the month. Another rising player, Geely, made a solid entry into the market with 84 cars sold in September.

In terms of fuel types, petrol-powered vehicles dominated sales in 2023, making up 53.8% of the market with 27,833 units sold. Hybrids accounted for 22.8% (11,792 units), while diesel vehicles made up 18.4% of sales (9,547 units). Electric vehicles held a 3.1% share with 1,598 units sold, and LPG-powered cars made up 2% of the market with 1,012 units.
