Written by  Aug 20, 2024

Foreign cruise ships carried out 244 cruises along the Croatian Adriatic in the first half of 2024, which is a seven percent increase compared to the same period last year. These cruises brought around 350,000 passengers, a 24 percent increase, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

In June, foreign cruise ships made 100 cruises along the Adriatic, which is two percent less than in June 2023, while in all other months since the beginning of 2024, the number of these cruises has seen a slight increase.

Despite the slight decrease in cruises in June, the number of passengers on these cruises still saw significant growth – 142,600 passengers, or 18.6 percent more than in June of last year.

As with the first six months of the year, the majority of foreign cruise ships in June sailed under the flags of the Bahamas and Malta, and these ships also carried the most passengers, around 90,000 in June alone, and around 175,000 in the first six months.

There were 57 foreign cruise ships that carried out cruises in the Adriatic in the first six months, one more than in the same period last year, but they completed 244 cruises, which is a seven percent increase.

These ships brought 350,500 passengers, which is 67,700 passengers or 24 percent more than in the first six months of 2023.

Statistics also show that cruise ships stayed in Croatia slightly less time than last year, totaling 524 days, or 2.2 percent less.

The most cruises were carried out in the Dubrovnik-Neretva and Split-Dalmatia counties, with the ports of Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Hvar, Korčula, Šibenik, and Rovinj seeing the most visits.
