After presenting the new Nevera R last week, Mate Rimac has announced a new car from his factory.
Rimac plans to create a hyper-car designed exclusively for the track with a single seat positioned in the center, Mate Rimac confirmed to Motor1.
“We’ve now decided not only to push the limits in road cars but also on the track. So, we’re building a track car, a single-seater that will be faster than any race car on most tracks. Faster than Formula 1, faster than Le Mans,” said Rimac.
This type of car is a significant departure for the company, which has so far only made two-seater electric vehicles for the road. Rimac said that the car will feature a cockpit with a closed dome style and that it will not be based on the Nevera, but will be on its own unique platform.
“We will probably show it to you this year and do the first track runs next year,” he added.
When asked if he plans to launch a special series with this car, Rimac said that the company first plans to set some new records. He confirmed to Motor1 that the single-seater will be a track-only vehicle, with no intention for road use, and it will not adhere to any existing set of rules.
“Safety is there, but everything else? No rules. It will go beyond the regulations of Formula 1 or Le Mans,” revealed Rimac.
The news of the new model came just hours after he showcased his latest creation, the Nevera R. The even more powerful version of the all-electric hyper-car has 2,107 horsepower, a 0-100 km/h time of 1.74 seconds, a top speed of 412 km/h, and a starting price of 2.3 million euros.
