Air Transat, the Canadian leisure airline, is gearing up to handle over 10,000 additional passengers on its seasonal flights between Toronto and Zagreb this year. After welcoming 26,473 travellers on 49 flights in 2023, marking a substantial year-on-year increase of 28.1%, the carrier is poised for further growth.
Anticipating a surge in demand, Air Transat plans to carry approximately 37,000 travellers in 2024, reflecting a robust increase of 39.8%. This increase aligns with the carrier's expansion strategy, which includes a corresponding 40.8% increase in capacity. To achieve this, Air Transat will kick-start its flights a full month earlier, commencing operations on May 4, and progressively ramping up frequencies throughout the season. From late June until early September, travellers can expect up to four weekly flights, a notable shift from the usual three.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for Air Transat, as it will be the first time the carrier maintains four weekly flights on the Zagreb route, demonstrating its commitment to meeting growing demand, reports EX-YU Aviation.
Croatia a key destination for Air Transat
Last year, Air Transat operated flights between Toronto and Zagreb from June 6 to October 7, utilizing its 332-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Notably, the airline achieved an impressive average cabin load factor of 80.9% throughout the summer operations, indicating a notable improvement of seven points compared to the previous year.
"Croatia remains a key destination for Transat, and in view of the interest shown by Canadian travelers in the summer of 2023 and its potential for tourism development, we will add another connection to Zagreb from Toronto, for a total of four direct flights per week," Air Transat stated, underlining its commitment to the Croatian market.
Air Transat also received accolades for its operational excellence, boasting a remarkable 100% on-time performance between Toronto and Zagreb last year. In recognition of this achievement, the carrier has awarded Zagreb Airport’s handler Havas Zemaljske usluge.
With Air Transat's expanded capacity and commitment to punctuality, travellers can look forward to enhanced connectivity and convenience on the Toronto-Zagreb route, facilitating smoother travel experiences for passengers between Canada and Croatia.
