Recent data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, reveals Croatia's remarkable performance in the retail trade sector, positioning the country at the forefront of growth within the EU. While Croatia experiences significant growth, the European average faces challenges due to weaker sales in food stores and gas stations.

In February, the eurozone witnessed a 0.7 percent decrease in retail trade turnover compared to the same period last year, a marginally milder decline than January. Similarly, the EU's retail trade almost stagnated, following a slight 0.6 percent decline in January, as per revised figures.

Monthly comparisons depict a 0.5 percent decline in turnover in the eurozone, with the EU closely following suit with a 0.4 percent decrease compared to January, where retail trade more or less remained static in both regions.

Notably, Croatia stands out with the highest annual growth in retail trade turnover, soaring by an impressive 9.2 percent in February, following a 7.9 percent increase in January. Following Croatia's lead, Romania and Luxembourg report substantial growth rates of 8.7 and 6.9 percent, respectively.

Conversely, Belgium and Slovenia experienced the most significant annual decreases in turnover, plummeting by 6.8 and 5.6 percent, respectively.
