That sounds like a Croatian name in the middle of the most important sporting event of the year!?! Yes, you would be right if you though that during Super Bowl LVIII from Las Vegas you thought you kept on hearing a Croatian name in the match commentary, indeed at the very heart of the game and making all the major decisions.
The Super Bowl referee, Bill Vinovich, has Croatian roots, probably the name (even though it has been anglicised) gives away his family history.
This wasn’t Bill Vinovich’s (63) first Super Bowl, he is somewhat of an old hand, he was also the match referee at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, a match won by the Baltimore Ravens, and then again at Super Bowl LIV in 2020 won by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Vinovich’s third Super Bowl was won by the Kansas City Chiefs as they defated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.
