In January, 4,461 new cars were sold in Croatia, which is a 33 percent increase compared to January last year when 3,346 were sold, according to data reported on Monday by Promocija plus, based on registration records.
Škoda sold the most new vehicles – 616, followed by Opel with 349 and Volkswagen with 336. Toyota (318), Suzuki (317), and Dacia (309) also sold more than three hundred vehicles each.
The best-selling model was the Opel Corsa, with 312 units sold, followed by the Škoda Octavia with the sale of 258 new vehicles. The Suzuki SX4 was sold in 159 units, Dacia Duster in 145, and Suzuki Vitara in 127.
In January of this year, Croatian citizens mostly bought petrol and hybrid cars. Petrol cars accounted for 2,057 or 46.1 percent of total sales, hybrids 1,354 or 30.4 percent. Diesel engines were chosen by 830 buyers or 18.6 percent, and 124 or 2.8 percent opted for gas-powered vehicles.
A total of 96 Croatian citizens, or 2.2 percent, purchased fully electric models.
