Hajduk Split's Transfer Buzz: Could Rakitić Follow Perišić's Lead?

Written by  Jan 21, 2024

After Ivan Perišić signed for Hajduk, Ivan Rakitić expressed his congratulations. Could the Seville midfielder Rakitić (35) be the next big signing for Hajduk Split? And it seems that Perišić would like his former national teamate to join him at Hajduk.

"Congratulations, mate, well done," said the former Croatian international Rakitić to his friend Perišić.

And it didn't take long for Perišić to reply “Now let them hassle you a bit. It's Rakitić's time.”

Perišić is a home-grown Hajduk player, born in Split, having passed through all the youth age categories of the club’s academy. At the age of 17, Perišić left Hajduk and joined the French club Sochaux in the summer of 2006. And during an impressive career he played for Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, amongst others. He has also played 123 times for the Croatian national team and scored 33 goals.
