The Kuna will disappear from the price tags of shopping shelves on the last day of the year because the Ministry of Finance has no intention of extending the dual display of prices. Therefore, after 16 months of displaying prices in both euros and Kunas, citizens will have to convert them themselves from January 1.
The obligation of dual price display applies from September 2022 until December 31 of this year, during which prices should be unambiguously, easily visible, and clearly expressed in two currencies. When mandatory dual price display began in September last year, the inflation rate was 12.8%, and by the end of the year, it had risen to 13.5%. With the official introduction of the euro on the first day of 2023, it was around 12% again and has been gradually decreasing since then.
