In August of this year, through the fiscalization system, 0.6 percent fewer invoices were collected compared to August of last year, while the collected amount was 18 percent higher than last year. Specifically, 1.5 billion euros more were collected, reports Dubrovacki Vjesnik.
According to the Tax Administration data, in August, during the peak of the tourist season, a total of 9.89 billion euros were collected through the fiscalization system, while in August of the previous year, 8.38 billion euros were collected. Since the number of bills is slightly lower, it is clear that tourists and citizens paid almost one-fifth more for the same amount of goods and services. This is a consequence of higher prices and a two-year inflation.
The peak tourist months bring the highest turnover in the tourism sector and related activities. In August 2023, the value of issued bills in wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair amounted to 2.54 billion euros, while in the accommodation and food and beverage preparation sector, 1.3 billion euros were collected through the fiscalization system, and in the processing industry, 556.3 million euros.
