Exploring Croatia: Direct Connections to 130 Cities Await This Summer Season

Written by  May 18, 2023

According to the information collected by the Croatian Tourist Board from Croatian airports, Croatia will be connected to over 483 unique airline operations during the summer flight schedule.

"Air transport is extremely important in connecting Croatia with the world, especially the southern regions with emitting markets. The significantly improved transport connectivity of Croatian destinations compared to last year suggests further recovery of air transport and is excellent news ahead of the main summer tourist season. The large number of airlines confirms Croatia's popularity on the global tourism map and further establishes Croatia as an aviation destination well connected to international airports," said Kristjan Staničić, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board. He added that if all planned routes are realized, it would represent a double-digit growth rate in the number of airline operations compared to the 2022 summer flight schedule.

Get ready for a flight frenzy: Croatia's aviation scene takes off with 130 city connections!

During the summer flight season, direct connections are planned with 130 cities, which is about ten more than the previous year's summer flight schedule. The majority of direct air routes will connect Croatia with Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.

Looking at the available data and announcements, the highest number of air operations are expected at Split Airport (32%), Zagreb Airport (30%), and Dubrovnik Airport (22%). During the summer flight season, Croatia will have direct connections with 38 countries, mainly from Europe, while connections with destinations on other continents are planned from the US, Canada, Israel, Qatar, and the UAE markets.

Croatia Welcomes 57 Carriers

In terms of airlines, it is planned that 57 different carriers will operate flights to Croatia, compared to around 50 airlines that planned flights during a comparable period in 2022. During the summer flight schedule, the most operations are planned by carriers such as Croatia Airlines, Ryanair, easyJet, Eurowings, and Lufthansa. Some of the "new" regular, low-cost, or charter carriers for this year include Aeroitalia, Air Connect, Braathens Airlines, Enter Air, Jettime, Peoples Viennaline, and others.
