As of Saturday the first of April it is no longer mandatory to have your car lights on during the daytime.
From November 1 to March 31 it is the law to have your car headlights on whilst driving in the daytime, and failure to do so leads to a fine of 30 euro.
Of course, in case of reduced visibility, heavy rain or fog, drivers are still obliged to turn on low beams. Exceptions to this rule are motorcycles and mopeds, which must have dipped headlights on during daytime driving all year round.
The use of dipped headlights, especially during the winter months, is compulsory in many European Union countries. And since 2012 daytime running lights (DLR) have been mandatory for all new cars and small vans. And then from 2012 trucks and buses had to have these DLR’s.
