The island of Krk was shook by an earthquake this morning with a magnitude of 4.8 and the earthquake triggered a landslide into the sea.

The epicentre of the earthquake was on the island of Krk and had a magnitude of 4.8, and was felt in the capital, Zagreb.

According to reports the earthquake, which lasted for around 20 seconds, caused a fire in a house on the island. And dramatically the earthquake also triggered a landslide that was filmed from the sea.

Apart from the fire there are no other reports of major damages and no injuries have been recorded so far. The fire was apparently caused when a boiler was shaken from its fixings and fell onto a washing machine, the blaze was quickly extinguished.

The earthquake triggered a large landslide above the Sršćica cove on the north-eastern coast of the island of Krk, and this was caught on video. A reader of Novi List captured an unusual scene from his boat on the inaccessible shore.
