The Croatian National Bank (CNB) emphasized on Monday that citizens still change their Kunas at bank branches, FINA and the Croatian Post branches until the end of this year.

Due to numerous inquiries from citizens, the CNB stated that, in accordance with the law on the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia, banks, Croatian Post branches and FINA will provide all exchange services within 12 months from the date of the introduction of the euro, i.e. from 1 January 2023 to December 31, 2023, at a fixed conversion rate (1 euro = 7.53450 Kuna).

During this period, all exchanges will be carried out free of charge, and a maximum of 100 banknotes and 100 Kuna coins can be exchanged in one transaction, the CNB noted.

The CNB will start exchanging Kuna cash for euro cash from January 1, 2024, free of charge, at a fixed conversion rate, namely Kuna coins, including lipa, until December 31, 2025, and Kuna banknotes without a time limit.

"According to the regulations, the CNB does not exchange Kuna cash for euro cash before January 1, 2024," the central bank emphasized in a short statement.
