In order for guests from the most important markets for Croatian tourism to be informed and familiarized with the introduction of the euro as the official currency of payment in Croatia from next year, the Croatian Tourist Board is conducting information activities through social networks and online communication channels.

"The introduction of the euro will have multiple and positive impacts on Croatian tourism. From next year, our numerous foreign guests will not have conversion costs, it will be easier to find their way around the displayed prices, and there is generally greater transparency. The positive impact of the introduction of the euro will certainly be an additional improvement of business processes between domestic and foreign tourist entities, and the geopolitical context and Croatia's right to direct participation in the design and implementation of the common monetary policy at the level of the European Union are also important," said Kristjan Staničić, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board, adding that the country's entry into the Schengen area will significantly contribute to Croatia's competitiveness from next year.

Also, with the first days of January 2023, the campaign for Croatia's entry into Schengen will begin, which will make Croatia an even more accessible destination from next year.

Croatia's entry into Schengen and the introduction of the euro should significantly contribute to the further stabilization of tourist traffic and a complete return to pre-pandemic levels during the next year. Namely, in Croatia there were 18.8 million arrivals and 104.5 million overnight stays this year, which compared to last year represents a growth of 37 percent in arrivals and 25 percent in overnight stays, while compared to the same period in 2019, the above represents 91 percent of results in arrivals and 96 percent of results in overnight stays.
