Croatian Stars to Watch in the 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League Season

Every UEFA Champions League season offers a lot of exciting football flavors to fans from all around Europe and in different parts of the world. Dinamo Zagreb is in contention to qualify for the 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League season via UEFA Champions League Playoffs which will be concluded on August 24th.

Croatian football fans hope that Dinamo Zagreb makes this year’s Champions League picks successfully and hopefully do well in the tournament. Croatian teams have always had mixed fortunes in the UEFA Champions League, but notwithstanding, a Croatian player has won the UEFA Champions League trophy for the last ten consecutive seasons.

Will the 2022/2023 season produce another Croatian winner?

This is possible because there are several Croatian stars on parade for top clubs across Europe. Croatia ranks high among countries with players that have won several UEFA Champions League medals. Will another Croatian win this season? Some of Croatia’s football stars who will compete in the 2022/2023 season are:

  • Luka Modric

Luka Modric is one of a handful of players to have won the UEFA Champions League 5 times. The Croatian captain won all his Champions League trophies with Real Madrid and was part of the Real Madrid side that won the UEFA Champions League for three successive seasons in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Modric marshalled Real Madrid to another UEFA Champions League trophy last season when Real Madrid defeated Liverpool. He will be looking forward to the next season.

  • Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic has won 4 UEFA Champions League titles. He won 3 titles at Real Madrid and was part of the triumphant Chelsea side in the 2020/2021 season. Kovacic hopes he can help Chelsea push on to winning the trophy in the new season.

  • Brozovic

Marcelo Brozovic plays for Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A. The midfielder could not help Inter Milan to beat Liverpool last season. With additional reinforcements to the side, he will look forward to pushing Inter Milan onto the Champions League trophy.

  • Perisic

Ivan Perisic won the UEFA Champions League trophy while on loan at Bayern Munich. Now that he has reunited with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur, Perisic hopes to play a major role in Tottenham’s Champions League quest under the Italian.

  • Rakitic

Ivan Rakitic was part of the Barcelona-winning squad in 2015. Rakitic now plays for Sevilla in Spain. Although Rakitic retired from the Croatian national team in 2020, many Croatian football fans will back his Sevilla side to go for gold when the UEFA Champions League commences.
