As part of the "Safe Navigation 2022" campaign officers from all port authorities on the Croatian coastline carried out 438 inspections on Friday. During this action they found 172 violations of regulations and issued over 400,000 Kuna in fines, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure reported on Saturday.
100 officers of the Ministry's Department of Navigation Safety took part in the action of increased navigation safety control held in the area of all port authorities, and inspection control at sea was carried out with 23 vessels.
The action was monitored by the Director of the Navigation Safety Administration, Captain Siniša Orlić, and in the Zadar region, the State Secretary for the Sea and EU Funds, Josip Bilaver, who noted that approximately 160,000 vessels sail through the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea.
"A special emphasis of surveillance activities is aimed at controlling illegal speed and the use of speed boats in an illegal sea area, which accounts for over 60 percent of total violations," Bilaver said.
He pointed out that this is the first, but not the last, action during this season, and he called on participants in maritime traffic to respect the sea, protect themselves and other participants in nautical traffic.
