Unemployment in the European Union was stable in May, while it decreased slightly in the Eurozone, and in Croatia it equalled the average of the Union, according to a report by the European Statistical Office on Thursday.
At the EU level, the unemployment rate, was 6.1 percent in May and was unchanged from the revised result in April, according to the Eurostat report.
In the Eurozone, it was 6.6 percent and decreased by 0.1 percentage point compared to the revised data for April.
In May last year, it was 7.3 percent in the EU and 8.1 percent in the Eurozone.
In May, Spain was the only EU country with a double-digit unemployment rate of 13.1 percent. Italy and Sweden follow with unemployment rates of 8.1 and 7.7 percent, respectively.
In Croatia, the unemployment rate was 6.1 percent in May and was 0.1 percentage point lower than in April. In May last year, it was eight percent.
According to Eurostat data, 110,000 citizens were unemployed in Croatia in May, 2,000 less than in the previous month. Compared to May of last year, their number decreased by 35,000.
