A Cessna plane that took off from Split airport and was heading to Germany has gone missing. The Croatian Air Navigation Service stated that the missing plane was a Cessna-type aircraft and went missing north of Rakovica, at an altitude of 2,300 feet, the plane had departed from Split and was heading north towards Germany.
The Operational Centre for Civil Protection informed the Ministry of the Interior and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service about the planes coordinates when it disappeared. And members of the mountain rescue service, along with the police, went to the last known position.
The Karlovac Police Department also announced the disappearance of the aircraft. "Today, May 29, at 11.48 am, the police received a report from the Civil Protection Directorate that a Cessna 182 aircraft disappeared from the radar of the Croatian Air Navigation Control at 11.25 am, in the wider Slunj area. The plane was flying from the direction of Split to Germany.”
And they added that “Immediately after the report, 34 police officers joined the search of the area, including members of the special and intervention police and 28 members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service who are using a drone in the search," the police said.
The area where the plane was last registered before contact was lost is a heavily wooded and mountainous region.
