The Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sport, Nikolina Brnjac, said on Friday that Croatia is currently at 92 percent of tourist overnight stays compared to the record pre-pandemic 2019, and there is great interest from the markets of Germany, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
"We are the fourth top destination for German citizens, we are number one in Austria, and this is now confirmed by the figures from eVisitor," said Brnjac.
When we look at Austrian tourists, she added, we have 20 percent more compared to even 2019, and there is also a higher number of tourists from the UK.
The Minister of Tourism assessed that the greatest strategic advantage of Croatia is the proximity of emitting markets, and she also pointed out the natural beauties and ecological preservation.
“During this pandemic, we saw tourists changing habits. "They are looking for sustainable and responsible destinations," she said.
Brnjac also pointed out that they had negotiated with the European Commission 2.2 billion Kuna in grants for public and private tourism infrastructure.
