New European Covid-19 map makes for bleak reading

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has updated a new corona map of the European Union and almost the whole of the new map has the same colour, dark red.

Every Thursday the ECDC releases a new corona map for Europe and it shows a 14-day infection per 100,000 inhabitants and thus ranks the regions of individual countries according to the degree of risk.

Red indicates areas where the 14-day rate is 75 to 200 with a positive rate of more than four percent, as well as those where the 14-day rate is 200 to 500. Dark red areas are those where the 14-day rate is greater than 500.

Almost all of Europe is in dark red. With the only exceptions being part of Hungary, most of Poland and Romania.

In the last 24 hours, 9,157 new cases of Covid-19 virus infection were recorded, and the number of active cases in Croatia today is a total of 55,500. Among them, 1,755 patients are in hospital, of which 216 are on respirators.
