Two cases of the omicron variant of Covid-19 have been detected in Croatia. The Director of the Croatian Public Health Institute, Krunoslav Capak, confirmed that two cases of omicron infection have been discovered.
“Both patients were interviewed in order to identify the source of infection and identify contacts. We can't say for sure about the source, since they didn't travel outside of Croatia, but they most likely got infected at one business meeting,” stated Bernadr Kaić, head of the Department of Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases of the Croatian Institute of Public Health. Adding that “There is a possibility that some of the contacts were the source. All of them were invited for testing, today there were 13. There were foreigners among them, so it is possible that one of them was already infected.”
"I think there are inevitably other cases. It was only a matter of time before omicron came to Croatia and there will certainly be new cases," Kaic said.
