Croatian Minister of Health, Vili Beroš, warned on Wednesday that today is the 611th day of the pandemic, and that Croatia has recorded 4,571 new cases of infection, which is the second largest number of newly infected since the beginning of the pandemic, and said that the key to the crisis is in the hands of citizens.

The state, Beroš said, will do everything to prepare the health system to be one step ahead of the virus, which has been the case so far, but the key to the crisis is in the hands of citizens and their responsible behaviour.

"Vaccination is definitely the main way out of this crisis and is a kind of prevention that is the mother of everything in medicine," Beroš stated adding that he urged citizens to get vaccinated.

On this same day last year Croatia recorded 1,413 new cases of Covid-19.

A total of 9,640 doses of the vaccine were administered yesterday across the country, including 4,516 people who took the first dose.

Beroš also said that the number of hospitalized in this fourth wave is slightly lower, but must not lead to any relaxation.
