Germany adds Croatia to high-risk countries - what does this mean for travellers

Written by  The Dubrovnik Times Oct 25, 2021

Germany has included Croatia and Bulgaria on the list of high-risk areas, so people who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid-19 will have to spend at least five days in quarantine upon returning from those countries.

Three other EU members Romania, Lithuania and Slovenia are already on the list of the German Robert Koch Institute for Disease Control.

In Europe, the number of cases and hospitalizations is growing - in some places surprisingly high, depending on the country, and the weather is getting colder and in some areas there is a delay in vaccination.

Germany has declared about 70 countries high-risk. Persons who have not recovered from Covid-19 or have not been fully vaccinated must be quarantined for 10 days upon return to Germany. This period can be shortened if the person is negative on the test after five days.

In addition to Croatia and Bulgaria, Cameroon, Singapore and Congo were added to the list on Sunday. Kenya, Kosovo, Iraq and Honduras have been removed from the list.
