Although on the latest European Union Covid-19 map all of Croatia is now marked in the red zone this doesn’t seem to have had any effect on the flow of tourists into the country.
According to data from the eVisitor system, 530 thousand tourists are currently staying in Croatia, of which 475 thousand are foreign guests, mostly from Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
Last year at the same time around 200,000 spent their vacation in Croatia, whilst in 2019 470,000 guests were in the country at the same time, meaning that there are currently more tourists in Croatia than in the record year of 2019.
And the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Nikolina Brnjac, stated that the post season will be just as busy. “Those who are coming now are mostly vaccinated. They know how standardized travel is, what the rules of entry are. Most of the existing reservations have not cancelled so we look forward to continuing with the good trend,” added the minister.
