Vast majority of new Covid-19 cases in Croatia are unvaccinated

Of the 3,216 new cases of Covid-19 between the 16th and 24th of August almost 87 percent were not vaccinated.

The Croatian Minister of Health, Vili Beroš, commented on the current situation of the coronavirus epidemic across the country at today’s government session. “The number of hospitalized people is increasing. The hospitals in Osijek and Split are increasing their capacities for the new cases, as well as the “Dr. Fran Mihaljevic" clinic in Zagreb,” stated the minister.

He added that among patients hospitalized between August 16 and August 22 a massive 78 percent of people were not vaccinated. Whilst among the newly infected in the period from 16 to 24 August, among a total of 3,216 new cases, 86.61 percent were not vaccinated.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković also spoke about the increase in the number of newly infected people, reported N1.

"I urge everyone to be careful, so that people do not relax too much, basic measures of mask, distance, ventilation, avoiding unnecessary close physical contact are the best way to prevent infection, and above all vaccination. We have reached 50.6 percent of vaccinated citizens,” said the Prime Minister.
