All 26 Croatian citizens were evacuated from Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs announced on Tuesday, thanking the American, British, German and Ukrainian authorities for their help.
"As of today, the evacuation and repatriation of all 26 Croatian citizens from Afghanistan has taken place," the statement said.
The Taliban declared an end to the war in Afghanistan after taking control of Kabul, at a time when US-led forces are leaving and Western countries are trying to evacuate thousands of their citizens.
The American, British, German and Ukrainian authorities helped in the evacuation of the Croats, they say in Zrinjevac.
"As with the repatriation of Croatian citizens at the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, in this situation the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Croatia, together with the Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, successfully ensured the return of all Croatian citizens to their homes," read the statement.
