“Today I proposed that Croatia join the Visa Waiver Program. This step towards visa-free travel recognizes Croatia's enormous progress in meeting the rigorous conditions required of countries that are part of the program. We look forward to even stronger US-Croatian cooperation,” wrote the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, wrote on Twitter on Monday.

His status was immediately followed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, who thanked Blinken and said that this was the last step for the abolition of visas.

“With the intensive work of the government and the ministries on fulfilling the conditions, we will realize one of the foreign policy priorities,” the Croatian Prime Minister pointed out.

Somewhat later, Plenković wrote the following on Twitter, “We confirm the partnership between Croatia and the United States, and the abolition of visas will benefit Croatian citizens who will be able to travel freely to the United States. We are looking forward to further developing economic cooperation and business ties.”
