The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Nikolina Brnjac, said on Thursday that Croatia has the preconditions for a good tourist season, but that it is important to implement epidemiological measures, and that tourists are now looking primarily for safe destinations.
Minister Brnjac held a meeting with representatives of regional and local self-government and the tourism sector of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County on the implementation of epidemiological measures.
"As we know, all counties and headquarters have the opportunity to introduce stricter measures than national ones. We have heard good numbers from all stakeholders today, and tourists are looking for safety. The recommendation of the ministry is not to hold large events, and those that will be held to be held in controlled conditions," she said, adding that Covid certificates come into force today and that this is a prerequisite for a good season.
According to the minister, we can be satisfied with the tourist results achieved so far. "From the beginning of the year until today, Croatia has seen 2.6 million tourist arrivals, which is 55 percent compared to last year, and our goal compared to the record 2019 is to be at 60 percent and I think we are on the right track," she added.
The Minister also pointed out that the vaccination coverage of tourism workers at the national level is about 70 percent, according to the records of the Ministry, and that this sends the message that we are responsible and a good example.
She pointed out that there is a growing demand for five-star facilities, for villas with swimming pools that are isolated, for nautical tourism, for all types of isolated accommodation, adding that "Guests that are looking for isolation, do not seek large events and gatherings, in fact, shy away from them.”
