The Hungarian online travel agency Szallas.hu conducted a survey among Hungarians, in which a fifth of respondents expressed a desire to visit Croatia this year, which along with Hungary is one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in the market, the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB) reported on Wednesday.
"Most Hungarian tourists come to Croatia individually, because it is a familiar, close and easily accessible destination to which they gladly return. The data from this survey is extremely positive because they give some optimism for the summer tourist season from the Hungarian market," said the director of the CNTB Representation in Hungary Ivana Herceg. Data from that poll, as Herceg reports, also showed that 66 percent of Hungarians are planning a trip this year.
The results of the survey were reported by many Hungarian print media and internet portals, including the Alfahir.hu portal, which published the results of the survey in an article entitled "The wish of Hungarians is more of the Adriatic, less of Lake Balaton".
The online agency Szallas.hr, which conducted the survey, is one of the most important partners of Croatian tourism in the Hungarian market, and is the largest online travel agency in the country.
In 2019 more than 215,000 overnight stays of Hungarian tourists in Croatia were realized through their platforms, while in 2020, slightly more than 50,000 overnight stays were realized, said Herceg.
