In a statement after yesterday’s government session, Health Minister, Vili Beros, commented on the new figures related to the coronavirus pandemic. He said that there is a certain downward trend in those patients who require the most intensive treatment.
"As of January 3, 12,285 people have been vaccinated, and last night we were among the top ten countries in the world in terms of the number of people vaccinated per 100,000 inhabitants," Beros said. He added that 17,550 new doses of vaccine had arrived in Croatia. These very doses were distributed across the country early this morning.
However, when asked if the Covid-19 measures across Croatia could be relaxed after numbers of new cases continued to fall the Minister answered that “It is too early to talk about relaxation measures."
He also answered a question about a new strain of the virus. "At first it was not known whether it was more dangerous, spreading faster and causing a more severe clinical picture. It is now clearer that it is spreading faster, but there are no clearer elements to cause a more severe clinical picture," Beros said. He considered that Croatia reacted well by stopping all air traffic with the United Kingdom when the new strain was discovered.
