First wine hotel opens in Croatia

Croatia is already well known for its wine tradition and excellent wines, but now there is a new wine offer on the market. Recently the first “wine hotel” opened which will promote Croatian wines and provide a unique tourist offer to guests from all around the world.

The wine hotel called ''Gospoja'' is situated on a cliff above the sea in the town of Vrbnik on the island Krk. These wine-growing hills are already famous for Vrbnicka Zlahtina, the quality dry wine produced from an autochthonous variety the white Zlahtina which is grown only in this area.

This project is worth 36 million Kunas and was launched by the winemaking families Brusic and Toljanic who have a long tradition of growing Zlahtina and producing wine and local brandy.

The ''Gospoja'' boutique wine hotel has 5 connecting buildings representing the 5 Croatian wine regions. It has 22 accommodation units with 58 beds, including two apartments and five family rooms were designed upon themes of Croatian grape varieties and named after various indigenous grapes. The hotel also provides other amenities such as a restaurant and a tavern which can accommodate 220 people as well as a SPA zone.
