By  Oct 14, 2020

In the last 24 hours, 748 new cases of Covid-19 were detected across Croatia, the highest daily number of new cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

The City of Zagreb saw 211 new cases of Covid-19 followed by the Split-Dalmatia County with 128.

The Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, commented on the record day in terms of the number of patients at the beginning of today’s government session, reports N1.

"Today we have 748 patients. This is a broader trend present in the neighbourhood, Europe and the world. The pandemic is spreading as we expected with the colder weather. Today the number of infected exceeds 38 million, which is two million more than last week," he added.

"We can call the situation worrying," he said, talking about the measures.

"We are all aware that this is not easy, but we can only achieve success if we are in solidarity. Success can only be achieved by adhering to measures. I hereby appeal to everyone to wash their hands, wear masks and keep their distance," Plenković added.

He also sent a special message to young people.

"A special message to young people - we are aware that the pandemic is disrupting your social life and habits, but it is important to respect the measures because it protects your loved ones, parents, grandparents. Courage is not in the violation of measures but courage to sacrifice part of your comfort to protect others," he said.
